1-Week Courses:
Integrated Content and Language Learning in High Schools
This course is designed for secondary school educators interested in teaching a subject from the school curriculum in a foreign language. It delves into the methods and techniques foundational to Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), offering practical ideas, activities for CLIL-based lessons and projects, and strategies for developing materials in the classroom.
CLIL programs merge the instruction of specific subject matter (like science) with targeted language learning (such as English), emphasizing the vocabulary and structures relevant to the subject areas. One significant benefit of CLIL is its approach to solving the problem of overcrowded curriculums by allowing subjects to be taught in a foreign language, which increases the amount of time students spend learning a language. Furthermore, CLIL fosters the development of cross-disciplinary skills vital for 21st-century education. Besides formal education, the course includes informal learning through cultural activities and provides opportunities for networking, allowing teachers to connect with peers across Europe.
Aligned with the goals of ERASMUS+ Key Action 1, this program aims to foster the internationalization and modernization of schools, enhance the teaching profession, and promote student multilingualism. By doing so, it seeks to reduce unemployment and the dropout rate among students across Europe.
Classes are scheduled for five days a week, from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
English Language and CLIL Development for Primary School Teachers
This course caters to primary school educators eager to teach subjects from the school curriculum in a foreign language while enhancing their own English language and teaching abilities. It delves into the strategies and methodologies essential for Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), offering practical suggestions, activities for CLIL lessons, project work tailored for young learners, and strategies for creating materials in the classroom. Additionally, the course emphasizes the linguistic development of students, covering areas such as phonology, communication skills, language awareness, and innovative teaching methods.
CLIL programs integrate the teaching of specific curriculum content (like science) with the focused instruction of a target language (for example, English), concentrating on the necessary vocabulary and structures for the chosen curriculum area. This approach addresses the issue of overcrowded curriculums by allowing subjects to be taught in a second language, thus increasing language learning time. It also fosters critical 21st-century skills. Beyond formal classroom instruction, the course includes informal learning through cultural activities and offers international networking opportunities, enabling teachers to connect with peers across the European Union.
Aligned with the ERASMUS+ Key Action 1 objectives, this developmental program aims to enhance the internationalization and modernization of schools, strengthen the teaching profession, and boost student multilingualism. It strives to decrease unemployment and the rate of school dropouts across the EU.
The course is scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.
English Language Enhancement and CLIL for High School Teachers
This course is specifically tailored for high school educators looking to teach a school curriculum subject in a foreign language while also wanting to refine their English proficiency and overall teaching techniques. It delves into the foundational strategies and methodologies of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), offering practical insights, activities for CLIL-oriented lessons and projects, and techniques for material development within the classroom. Furthermore, the course places an emphasis on enhancing students’ language development, including areas like phonology, communication skills, language awareness, and introducing new teaching approaches.
CLIL programs effectively merge the instruction of specific curriculum content (e.g., science) with the deliberate teaching of a chosen target language (e.g., English), focusing on the vocabulary and structural aspects necessary for the supplementary curriculum field. This method tackles the challenge of overloaded curriculums by allowing various subjects to be taught in an additional language, thus increasing the dedicated time for language learning. It also promotes cross-disciplinary skills that are crucial for 21st-century learning. In addition to structured classroom education, this course incorporates informal learning through cultural engagements and offers international networking opportunities, encouraging teachers to connect with colleagues from across the European Union.
Aligned with the ERASMUS+ Key Action 1 goals, this developmental program aims to foster the internationalization and modernization of educational institutions, strengthen the teaching profession, and elevate student multilingualism.
